REIMUN - A Report from the Secretariat

On the 5th of October, delegates from LEH were lucky enough to attend ReiMUN at Reigate school. We first made our way to our individual committee rooms, where after a session of lobbying, resolutions were passed, amendments were created, and POIs were raised. We enjoyed discussing a wide variety of topics, from the Question of Global cooperation during a pandemic in the Health committee, to the Question of prevention of Genocide in the DISEC. It was great to be able to collaborate with delegates from other countries and schools in order to drive global peace and development. And of course, there was a lot of fun to be had with our Confession boxes and Joke awards at the end of our committees.

After Lunch, we received a speech from a previous representative of Afghanistan who gave us an insight into what it would be like working with the United Nations. We then delved into topics such as addressing ceasefires in Palestine, and we were proud of the fact that LEH’s delegate of Cyprus was chosen to represent their resolution in front of the GA, which was passed with an overwhelming majority. It was interesting to be able to address culturally relevant topics which are prevalent in our current affairs. We all had a fantastic day of fruitful debate, and we felt very accomplished to pick up 7 awards, including a delegation award. It was a great experience which helped us to develop our oratory skills and confidence, and so we would recommend MUN to everyone!
